summer movies II

Oh, we were so excited to see Year One!  We are huge Jack Black and Michael Cera fans!!!  Seriously, Orange County, School of Rock, Nacho Libre, and Michael Cera?  All I have to say is Arrested Development.  Funny funny.  So high expectations for this movie.  Not that it's be some moving, amazing, film, but that we'd get some good easy laughs.  And they were there for sure, along with a lot of sexual innuendos and crude gestures.  So the movie was funny, but for sure one that you only need to see once (if that) and definitely not one to buy on DVD.
The Proposal on the other hand-I'm so getting this one on DVD!  I loved it!  So cute and funny.  I was worried that this was going to be a bit risque too since all I'd heard about it was the nude seen they were really nude.  So I thought it would have some big sex scene in it.  Nope!  Totally clean.  Makes for a movie you're not embarrassed to have in your collection.  And honestly, we laughed so much through out the whole thing.  And I just love Sandra Bullock.  And Ryan Reynolds isn't too bad himself.  And Ryan (husband Ryan) liked it too, so it's not a "chick flick".

Happy Father's Day

To my daddy and the kid's papa.
And to Ryan, who's such an amazing dad to Gwenny and Drake.

spidey

A friend asked me to make a spider man cake and cupcakes to go along with it for her son's birthday today.  Well Drake was all excited because he though it was for him.  We're about to start cake season in our house.  Gwen's birthday is July 1, me July 5, Drake July 17, and Ryan August 16.  So it was good to get out all the cake decorating things and reassess what I need.

In other spiderman news, I might have something like spidey sense after tomorrow.  I've been having pain in my legs while I run and stress fractures are suspected.  I already had a x-ray which usually won't show stress fractures, so I have to go in for a bone scan.  I was reading about it and you are injected radioactive material!!!  Bone scans are considered NUCLEAR medicine!!!!  I'm a little nervous and wasn't going to do it, but after my run yesterday I figured maybe I better.  I have my fingers crossed that they'll say "oh it's nothing, keep running and you'll have no problem training for your marathon!"  Or just like how Spiderman was bitten by a radio active spider and became a super human, maybe my injection will make me a super runner!

I love this girl

I came down from showering and Gwen informed me she took some pictures on my computer.  Look at all these cute pictures she took.  She sure can entertain herself!

I'm going to be 28

My birthday's in like two weeks, and Ryan's asked for my birthday list.  I don't know why since I'll probably just get a card.  So you might recognize some of the items below from my Christmas list, and that's because I didn't get one thing from my Christmas list! Not even the Back to the Future trilogy!   Hey, I'm not complaining, I know we're poor students, but here it is:

The Dooney and Burke medium Chiara bag in turquoise, I'd take a yellow one too.
(okay this one's a dream)

these super cute Dolce Vita flats...but with my running and possible stress fractures, I might need a little more support.

I still want a cute little bengal kitten
(dream too)
the Von Zipper Dharma's in the gold/white

I asked for a road bike last year for Christmas dreaming of doing triathlons, and guess what?  I've done two so far this year.  This would have done me some good!

 the gold mini ticket (sigh)
(still dreaming)

Okay, here's where the new stuff starts:

These pans are both from Ikea, and are smoking deals!  The grill pan is great and I need one since mine stinks!  I won't even use it anymore because it's so bad.  And the french oven is like a Le Creuset one at 1/5 the price!

I love this band, but have been waiting to buy the cd so I could put it on my "list".

Loved this movie, it'd be great to be able to watch it whenev.
And a rotary cutter and mat, an essential I know, but mine has been moved in hot cars.
It was therefore warped beyond saving. :(

Oh, and a night gown.  (eww, I'm such a mom)

Okay Ryan, there are some idears, again I'm not expecting anything!  ;)  Love ya!

Holy smokes!  It's been one day, but not one accident so far!
We'll see how he does at church today...

satisfaction

I don't know what we do wrong, but our yards, wherever we are, tend to grow weeds. Serious weeds. And I'll peek in our neighbors yard, who are snow birds so they don't live here, and I know they don't have landscapers, but their yard is completely weed free! How is that!? So I bit the bullet and bought some tools and gloves and cleaned up our yard. I started a couple days ago, but really did most of it today. And why didn't I take a "before" picture?

So the people who lived here before us had a dog that apparently pulled up bushes that were once in this little yard. I counted about 6 bush skeletons piled back in the far corner of the yard. Along with so much petrified dog poop! Also a "rug" of dog hair! It really had formed some kind of a gross mat of fur.
And when pulling weeds, do you know the satisfaction of pulling on the weed and the whole root system comes up with it? I love that! I hate it when I pull the weed and the weed just breaks off leaving the root in the ground. So I pull slow with steady pressure to get the whole root out, and it usually works. But can you imagine how satisfied I was when I pull and this came out?!

That's right! This weed was growing out of a tennis ball buried under ground. Good thing the weed didn't break off leaving this behind.

At least I got a before picture of our little dog run area on the other side of the house.

That is some kitchen island thingy that was here when we moved in. Gwen and Drake love to play in it and call it the dungeon. There used to be a butcher's block on top but as you can imagine the sun damage it and I thought it was too dangerous for the kids to be standing on and I thew that part out.

And here's the after!
(those are bushes and are supposed to be there)
This garbage can was completely empty this morning
And yesterday, I made these muffins that are supposed to be like Mimi's Cafe's honey bran muffins (which I LOVE). They were pretty close, and with all that bran and 3 cups of raisins in them, no one in our house will have BM problems. Another thing so satisfying!
(If you make these, I'd recommend cutting the recipe in half, it makes a lot!)

way better than hot tamales!

Fellow candy lovers, you will love me for this!
Go to your local Walgreens and pick up some Chewy Atomic Fire Balls!
You know how sometimes Hot Tamales have a hard not-so-chewy center?  And you chew off all the nice hot stuff and you have this hard gummy goo left over?  You won't have that with these.  Just hot chewy bliss.

today

Gwen asked me what part of your body babies come out of.
Ummm...can I please freeze time so I can have some time to think of an answer? She's supposed to ask where babies come from. That's easy, heaven. But what part of your body do babies come out of?! So I just said "their mommies privates" then turned the music up really loud so I wouldn't be able to hear if she had follow up questions.

Drake informed me that he wants to be a baby when he grows up.
He later changed that to a space ranger.
Also last night we went to a friend's graduation party.  And when we told Drake we were going to a party he said "yea!  I'm so ready to dance!"
He's got moves, but feels most comfortable dancing in the buff.
