Last year, my mom, sisters, and I tried Meals Made Easy. It's one of those places where you go and assemble meals and then they are practically ready when you get home. You just take them out of the freezer and pop 'em in the oven or what ever they need, but they literally are meals made easy.
So we're coming up on a busy time of year, and we thought we should do that again. But this time we thought why don't we do it all ourselves? We'll come up with our own gourmet menus and do all the prep work and assemble them ourselves. Well we did, and it took almost ALL day! Between coming up with the menus and buying the groceries, and washing, chopping, and cooking, we spent around 8 hours! But believe me, I know I won't regret it when I'm eating my BLT smashed potatoes, or my Spanish Chicken and Chorizo Paella. All together we made 6 meals for each of our families. But right now all the lemons in the world couldn't take the smell of onions and garlic off my hands! Any suggestions?
So that's how I spent my fourth anniversary! Yesterday was four years for Ryan and I, but he had his LSAT classes yesterday, so we postponed celebration to tonight. For those of you who don't know, Ryan's decided he wants to go to law school. He's been taking these LSAT prep classes, and has been studying like a mad man! He is so determined to do well, and I know he will.

Wow! So impressed. Are your meals for sale???
As for your odor problem. You are in luck. I used to cook for a sorority house and my hands ALWAYS smelled like garlic. So Allison, being the "in the know" chef that she is, gave me a "Rub Away" bar from Crate & Barrel. Here's the link:

(Or, if you don't want to go and buy one, rub your hands on stainless steel, which is supposed to have the same effect...)
And congratulations on the four years! And on deciding to go to law school!
can't believe it's been 4 years since you told me at spyglas that you guys were getting married! Hooray! I like this idea of meals made easy. such hard work for one day, but probably worth it for the rest of the week. You should post your recipes!! Maybe on Internecipes?
fun day kristen! good luck on the lsat ryan. We won't even talk about the BAR yet.
I am begging for your recipes... i can only take costco lasagna one more time! :)
PS HAppy 4th!
Can I come eat at your house?
That would be a good idea for me since I hate cooking every day. I use to try making twice the amount of whatever meal and freeze the other half, but then I would stop cooking, eat only the frozen stuff for a while and go back into my non cooking phase. I'm such a bad house wife! And tell Ryan that we think that's awesome he wants to go to law school!
kristin- my family does the same thing every two months and we each end up with 30 meals in our freezer. it's awesome but a lot of work. great job, girlie!
I want the recipes! I love this idea. I get excited when I have the week planned out on paper, I can not imagine my bliss at dinner time to know that not only is dinner planned, but already to bake! So clever. Please post recipes and help us all become better moms and cooks!
Yeah for you and Ryan! Four years going on Eternity, right? :-)
I am excited for Ryan and Law School, but I really don't want you to move!
Have fun at Education Week!
